The Journey Begins
In 1985, Paul Dempsey embarked on his journey as a draughtsperson, formally qualified as an Architectural Designer – NZCD (Arch) further fueled curiosity and passion to expand his knowledge. This expertise grew to include Electrical and Mechanical draughting and more prominently into the Structural industry and managing the drawing teams.
Paul’s extensive background became the canvas upon which he would shape safety and innovation.
Fire Safety Design: A Guiding Light
Since 2006, Paul has championed fire safety design using the New Zealand Building Code (NZBC) guidelines. His work transcends mere compliance – it’s about safeguarding lives and property.
From C1-C4 C/AS1 (2000-2012) to C/AS1-AS7 (2012-2019) and now C/AS1 + C/AS2 (2019-present), Paul’s pragmatic approach ensures buildings withstand the test of flames.
Acceptable Solutions and Beyond
Paul’s decade of service in the New Zealand Fire Service (NZFS) complements his understanding of acceptable solution design. But he doesn’t stop there. When challenges arise beyond the norm, he collaborates with Passive Fire stopping contractors, exploring innovative approaches. It’s about more than rules – it’s about safety.
